This interactive and stimulating 1 day training will introduce new and experienced clinical and non-clinical workers to the H.O.A.R.D.I.N.G.© Model and assist them to:

  • Better understand hoarding behaviours
  • Screen and assess for the presence of hoarding behaviours
  • Undertake an evidence-based risk assessment and apply appropriate risk management strategies
  • Develop realistic, achievable and successful interventions including skills for respectful decluttering, managing emotion dysregulation, SMART goal setting and using Motivational Interviewing techniques to reduce resistance and ambivalence to behaviour change.

Participants will be provided comprehensive resources and offered the opportunity to problem solve challenging presentations in practice.

The H.O.A.R.D.I.N.G Model is a unique model developed by Monica through both extensive practice experience and research. The H.O.A.R.D.I.N.G Model provides a comprehensive, and easy to remember self-reflective framework for workers to approach an intervention where hoarding behaviours are present.
